THE video-game industry is seeing a slide in sponsors for competitions, which could spell 'game over' for players wanting to make a living from tournaments here.
Two major world gaming competitions are in trouble, and the one that is left - the World Cyber Games (WCG) - can no longer provide enough mileage for its professional gaming fraternity.
Feeling the pinch from the recession, sponsors here, generally technology companies, have started cutting back on the money and prizes they put up at competitions.
