On Wednesday, leaders from the National Transport Workers' Union include its acting executive secretary Ong Ye Kung who were on a regular a visit to Clementi Bus Interchange were shown what precautionary measures were in place should the flu situation take a turn for the worse.

Besides temperature taking, hospital-grade soap was being used in interchange toilets as well as disposable cutlery in the canteen.

An isolation area has also been set up in the bus captain's lounge should any bus captain have a high temperature and have visited an affected country.

Bus operations will also be segregated should the need arise but bus frequencies should not be affected, said SBS Transit's executive director Gan Juay Kiat.
