Break-in at church, 2 flats
By Cheryl Ong
A CHURCH in Serangoon lost $2,400 cash after a break-in on Monday.

A pastor from Bethesda Church Bukit Arang told police he found the churhc's office doors forced open on Monday morning.

The thief is suspected to have gained entry through the main entrance of the church on the first floor, and made his way up to the second, third and fourth floors where the offices and cash were.

Separately, two flats in the same block in Kallang were broken into on Tuesday.

A 29-year-old tenant living on the third floor of Block 65 Kallang Bahru told police he was in the bathroom at 7.15am when his landlord, who lived in the flat as well, told him she heard noises from his bedroom.

The tenant found a man inside his bedroom facing the common corridor, but was shut out of his room. The thief then escaped through an open bedroom window.

The tenant lost an Acer laptop worth $800, a wallet containing personal documents and $200 cash.

The thief was last seen wearing a beige collar tee-shirt and three-quarter grey pants. He is about 1.65m tall.

Shortly afterwards, another break-in happened on the second floor.

The resident, an 18-year-old, reported losing a Playstation Portable handheld console worth $300 and his wallet, which contained some cash and personal documents.

He was been sleeping in his room when the theft took place between 8.30am and 10am. His father found the padlock on the house door unsecured.

If you have information about any of the break-ins, call the police at 1800-255-0000.
