I Not Old portal for elderly
By Diana Othman
THE South West Community Development Council (CDC) will be launching an online portal aimed at the elderly on Thursday.

I Not Old.com is an easy-to-use online portal which provides a listing of over 250 activities and events which the elderly can particate all over Singapore. It also contains movies and videos by artistes such as Jack Neo and Yamin.

I Not Old.com is interlinked with carious community groups and allows them to tap into befriending services such as the Elderly Database Management System which groups over 3,200 elderly people in the district.

Groups such as volunteer welfare organisations, corporate and community partners will thus be able to reach out to the elderly with financial and medical aid.

The portal will also be easy for the elderly to navigate as it is both in English and Chinese and the text sizes can be adjusted.

It is an initiative developed from feedback received from participants of the South West CDC's Elderly @ IT programme, who said that they had difficulty looking for information at most websites because the texts used are too small, the information is too cluttered and that they did not know where to search for websites that carry Chinese text, as well as information that would be relevant to them.

The portal will be officially launched on Thursday. The event will be hosted by mayor of South West district Dr Amy Khor and the guest-of-honour is Dr Lim Boon Heng, minister in the Prime Minister's office.
