THEATRE-GOERS will also have to go through anti-flu screening from this week as part of nation-wide precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the H1N1 outbreak here.

Since Monday, the National Arts Council (NAC) has implemented measures to combat the H1N1 flu.

Thermal scanners have been deployed at NAC theatres, Victoria Theatre and Drama Centre and patrons are asked to provide particulars for contact tracing. Temperature checks are also carried out on visitors, hirers, theatre staff, crew and artists at these venues on a daily basis, NAC said in a statement on Tuesday.

Due to these precautionary measures being taken, patrons are advised to arrive earlier for all performances, said the NAC. Thermal scanners will also be deployed at mass events such as the Singapore Arts Festival opening at the Marina Barrage.

In addition, foreign artists have been asked to provide details of their travel history prior to their arrival in Singapore, and will be given masks and thermometers for daily temperature checks during their stay. NAC is also issuing an advisory to tenants at its arts housing facilities to take necessary precautions against a possible outbreak.

Since the outbreak of the Influenza A (H1N1), NAC has set up a taskforce to monitor the situation and implement necessary measures in accordance with the Health Ministry's guidelines.
