By Kimberly Spykerman
AN ELDERLY woman died after being hit by a lorry yesterday afternoon along Upper Thomson Road.

Madam Koh Hood Choo, 84, was said to have tried dashing across the road - which does not have a designated pedestrian crossing.

She had severe head and spinal injuries. Paramedics arrived at 1.10pm and pronounced her dead at the scene.

The driver, in his early 40s, was arrested by the police as part of their investigations.

Last year, one in two pedestrians killed was an elderly jaywalker. Of the 62 who died, 28 were aged above 60. All but six were killed because of jaywalking, said the Traffic Police.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Traffic Hotline on 1800-547-1818.
