Kampung spirit 'alive'
By Cheryl Ong
THE KAMPUNG community spirit is blooming in Eunos.

On Sunday, more than a hundred Eunos residents and businesses donated tins of Milo, rice and non-perishable foodstuffs, to the Project Give campaign.

Their donations went to 160 needy families - each receiving $50 worth of food and vouchers that they may exchange for provisions from neighbourhood shops.

'Our hope is that by providing a platform for residents to help each other, we can encourage the kampung spirit to grow in Eunos,' said S. Lakshmanan, the head of Eunos Community Engagement Champions.

North East Community Development Council MayorZainul Abidin Rasheed, who presented the gifts to the families at the event, said the support for the cause has been positive.

'The response was very heartwarming,' he said.

'But this is only the beginning. I expect the project to be an ongoing one, to give residents an avenue to help each other.'
