A TASK force which scans data and other information for tell-tale signs that employers of foreign workers may be in financial difficulty and unable to pay their dues has been set up.
Formed in January, it monitors bosses who default on such payments as foreign worker levies and housing rents - all indications of cash-flow problems. It also analyses intelligence it receives and information collected from site inspections.

AVERY Lodge is the largest, and quite likely the most well-appointed, workers' dormitory here.
Since the team of Manpower Ministry officers began operations, it has identified 43 employers with salary arrears.
This has led to the prosecution of two employers. Nine others are being investigated, Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong said yesterday.
Disclosing this at the opening of a new purpose-built foreign workers' dormitory in Jurong, he underlined his ministry's determination to protect the well-being of foreign workers here.
Noting that not all employers behaved responsibly he said the Government would not hesitate to take 'errant employers to task'.
Mr Gan also said a ministerial steering committee - formed late last year to coordinate Government efforts to ensure foreign workers live in harmony with locals - has been making progress.
It oversees moves such as educating workers about social norms and works to address specific concerns - such as over security - that local communities have about foreign workers in their midst.
Mr Gan said that Singapore continues to rely on foreign workers, who play 'an important role in our economy'.
But official efforts must 'be complemented by those of industry players such as employers and dormitory operators'.
