Flat, coffeeshop broken into

THIEVES broke into a flat and a coffeeshop on Saturday.

A coffeeshop owner found his shop ransacked when he opened it early on Saturday.

The 60-year-old owner had locked up the shop the night before at about 8.30pm. But when he returned the next morning, he found the metal grilles at the back of the shop cut. The metal drawers in the shop had also been forced open.

Cash amounting to $1,500 and over 200 packets of cigarettes valued at $2,500 were taken.

In the other case, a woman had her laptop stolen from her flat in Bangkit Road as she was napping in her bedroom last Saturday afternoon.

The housewife, who is in her 60s, was awakened by the sound of something crashing to the floor. When she got up to find out what was going on, she discovered that her laptop, which was placed on the table next to the open window, had been taken. The thief had vanished with the laptop, worth $600.

She also realised that a flowerpot outside her home had been shifted to allow the thief to gain entry into the flat.

Anyone with information should call the Police hotline at 1800-255-0000.
