A JAPANESE man, who is a Singapore Permanent Resident, was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore Hotel in Marina Centre on Monday morning.

The 64-year-old was found by hotel staff in the bathroom with a stab wound in his chest, at about 9am.

Police, who received a call about the body at about 9.17am, said they have classified the case as 'unnatural death'.

'Preliminary investigations indicate that foul play was unlikely. Police investigations are on-going,' said a police statement on Monday afternoon.

Mr Peter Mainguy, General Manager of Ritz-Carlton told The Straits Times: 'This is an internal private matter. There has been no breach of security and no sign of criminal activity.'

He said the hotel has CCTVs to monitor activities on its premises.
