OVER 15,000 jobseekers handed in applications to Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS) during the four-day Career 2009 and Education 2009 fair as of yesterday afternoon.

At stake? More than 800 jobs at the Sentosa integrated resort, of which about 400 were for game-table dealing croupiers.

Also up for grabs were 400 full- and part-time Positions in the Universal Studios theme park opening in the resort.

RWS was one of 400 employers at the fair in Suntec Convention Centre that started last Thursday. About 15,000 jobs were available at the fair, which 400,000 people attended in its first three days.

RWS said that it would hire 10,000 people when the resort opens early next year. It will be ramping up recruitment in the middle of this year. -- MY PAPER
