THE upcoming inaugural Asian Youth Games will be the first multi-sport event to broadcast coverage of all its sports events through digital channels.

While a daily half-hour highlights programme will be aired on television, supporters from all 45 participating nations and around the world can follow the Games primarily through new media.

This was announced at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) on Monday, at which the Asian Youth Games Singapore 2009 Organising Committee (SAYGOC) appointed World Sport Group and its partners Perform Group and Content Craft as its official website developer and web broadcaster.

Co-chair of SAYGOC and chief executive officer of SSC Oon Jin Teik said: 'The internet, a highly used communications medium used by youth, will be the gateway for the world to catch all the live action from their desktops, notebooks, mobile phones, or any other portable device that has a web browser.'
