Teen sent to reform centre
By Elena Chong

A TEENAGER who instigated a man to have sex with a 13-year-old girl for having bad-mouthed her was sentenced to Reformative Training Centre on Friday.

The 16-year-old, had pleaded guilty to the offence and five other charges of misappropriating property, rioting, molestation and instigating an unknown man to have unnatural sex with the victim.

The court heard that she called a chatline and managed to arrange for an unknown man to meet her at Block 362 Woodlands Avenue 1.

She had planned to take revenge on the victim for having badmouthed her previously and to 'break her virginity'.

When the man showed up on June 28 last year, the girl, together with her group of friends and the victim, went to a fourth floor staircase landing where the victim was forced to lie down on the ground.

There, she instigated the man to have sex with the victim but he failed.

Unhappy that the victim's virginity had not been 'broken', she forced the victim to perform oral sex on the man.

After the man had left, she was still not placated, and she began slapping and kicking the victim. The rest also joined in the attack.

The teenager's lawyer Noor Mohamed Marican said his client had realised what she had done and wanted to move on in life.

He said she wanted to return to her foster mother and continue with her studies.

The lawyer said he had impressed on her how the victim had suffered and the fact that the victim was still 'very very scared'.

The teenager told Community Court judge May Mesenas she was very sorry for her 'mistake' and regretted what she had done.

Judge Mesenas told her to make full use of the only chance given to her as she was still young.

'I hope that you will not go back to where you started from, and really become a better person and lead a normal life,' she said.

The judge also hoped that she would take her promises seriously.

'If you don't take yourself seriously, no one will, I can guarantee you that.''

The teenager also agreed to write a letter of apology to the victim as suggested by the court.
