SINGAPORE has a heart after all.
Several readers of The Straits Times offered to foot the $90 medical bill on behalf of accidental Dutch hero Filip Lou after reading about his story in the papers on Tuesday.
But one Singaporean beat everyone to it.
Wanting to remain anonymous, he walked into Singapore General Hospital (SGH) early Wednesday and offered to reimburse Mr Lou for his medical expenses.
Mr Lou's wife collected the money from the hospital on behalf of her husband, who was attending a business conference.
Mr Lou stripped down to his briefs and jumped into the Singapore River after a Caucasian woman on Sunday.
His bid to save her resulted in him sustaining cuts on his hands and feet from the rough stone steps along the waters' edge.
After treating the wounds, he was presented a $90 bill by the hospital.
