One of the two new road markings are dashed pedestrian crossing lines, which are painted after the stop line at signalised pedestrian crossings.
The new dashed lines lines replace the current continuous lines seen at pedestrian crossings.
They will be implemented progressively, starting with pedestrian crossings along six roads - North Bridge Road, South Bridge Road, New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, Hill Street and Victoria Street.
All crossings along these roads will have the new dashed lines by June. Other crossings within the Central Business District will have the new markings by 2011. By 2014, they will be implemented at all other crossings in Singapore.
Another new road marking introduced by the LTA are inverted white triangular markings painted on the roads before a zabra crossing.
The markings help warn motorists to slow down when they are approaching a zebra crossing.
They will be implemented at six pedestrian crossings by March. The six locations are: Claymore Hill beside American Club, Clemenceau Avenue turning into Oxley Rise, Commonwealth Avenue turning into North Buona Vista Road, outside Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, TPE (SLE) into Punggol Rd andTampines Avenue 10 into TPE (SLE).
