IN A black-and-white dress, silver heels and carrying a Louis Vuitton tote bag, renowned pianist Chen Jie, with her porcelain skin and good looks, is a picture of elegance as she shops in Singapore.
The New York-based musician, 24, can afford any brand she likes - but when Life! caught up with her on Monday evening, she was checking out Singapore's quirky clothing boutiques.
It was the day after she wowed audiences at the Esplanade with her show which wrapped up the 10- day Huayi Chinese Festival Of Arts, and she was looking for a gown to wear at a performance in Mexico next month.
The former child prodigy, who was accepted into the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music at the age of eight, may be a multi-award-winning pianist with accolades such as the United States' Van Cliburn International Competition under her belt, but on Monday, she was every inch the savvy shopper.
