A MAN was charged in court on Thursday with snatching an elderly woman's gold necklace last month.
Sukhminder Singh Sukhden Singh, 38, is alleged to have stolen Madam Lee Soo Nee's gold necklace bearing a butterfly jade pendant worth $1,500, by snatching it from her neck in a lift at Towner Road on Jan 22.
He was remanded for a week for further investigation and the case will be mentioned next Wednesday.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of between one and seven years and possible caning.
