A FRUIT trader who had an argument with a woman over relationship problems was fined $1,000 on Thursday for disorderly behaviour.
Goh Soo Ping, 50, admitted to gesticulating with his hands and shouting at a bus stop outside
Haw Par Villa at Pasir Panjang Road on Jan 7.
A magistrate's court heard that he was having an argument with cleaner Chew Woon Kiew, 48, at the bus stop that evening when he slapped her.
Ms Chew then called the police.
When the police came, they separated the couple, and Goh started gesticulating and shouting despite being warned.
When he continued shouting, the cops arrested him.
His lawyer S. S. Dhillon said Goh committed the offence in a drunken stupor. Goh did not quieten down as he could not understand the policemen, he added.
Goh, who has a similar previous conviction, could have been fined up to $2,000 or jailed for up to six months.
