A SINGAPOREAN man who was shot in the abdomen in a gangland-style shooting in Denmark last month returned yesterday morning.
He is in the Singapore General Hospital in stable condition, an International SOS spokesman, which arranged the repatriation, told The Straits Times.
The 53-year-old, believed to be Mr Ong Yiew Soon, was discharged from Copenhagen?s Rigshospitalet, Denmark?s national hospital, on Tuesday where he had been in an induced coma after he was shot on the evening of Jan 5. He has given his statement to Danish police since then.
Mr Ong was touring Denmark, and visiting a friend, Mr Roland Tan, 61, when both were wounded by a man toting a shotgun in Mr Tan?s popular restaurant in Copenhagen.
The gunman strode into the Bali Restaurant at Kongens Nytorv Square at around 7pm.
Mr Tan, who is believed to be a former Singapore citizen, was shot in the shoulder and has since been discharged from hospital.
Chief inspector Ove Dahl of the Central Copenhagen homicide department said yesterday: ?We have not arrested anyone yet and are still looking for the gunman.?
The alleged gunman, Vietnamese Nguyen Phi Hung, 47, is believed to have been good friends with Mr Tan, whom Danish media call the ?most powerful Chinese businessman in Denmark?.
The pair drank and partied together, but their relationship soured after Mr Nguyen was apparently involved in a fight at Mr Tan?s restaurant a few months ago.
