Workers move out of dorm
They will move from poorly maintained dorm to approved quarters
By Melissa Sim
ABOUT three weeks after a foreign worker suffering from chicken pox was found dead, more than 120 foreign workers were moved out of a dormitory in Tagore Industrial Estate on Wednesday.

The living quarters were not approved by the authorities and were found to be 'non-compliant' last November.

Wednesday was the last day for employers to move the workers out of the converted factory and into an approved dorm at Seletar West Farmway 6.

The move came too late for three workers who were discovered to have chicken pox after the worker died. They were from the same dormitory.

There have been one death and 13 reported cases of chicken pox in Tagore Industrial Estate since last December.

Close to 400 men were housed at 468 Tagore Industrial Avenue, which was damp, unventilated, and did not have proper medical facilities.
