A MALAYSIAN chef was jailed for four weeks on Wednesday for using a mobile phone to record video images in a toilet of a restaurant.
Chan Siew Fai, 25, admitted to insulting the modesty of a 41-year-old colleague at the premises in the city area on July 25 last year.
The victim, a manager, was in the unisex toilet that day when she saw a mobile phone, which was covered with cloth, was placed below the sink of the toilet.
She removed the phone and noticed that the phone was in a video recording mode and had captured her removing her underwear and sitting on the cistern.
She later found out that the phone belonged to Chan.
Pleading for leniency, Chan said he knew he had to be punished for his 'mistake', and was really sorry for committing the offence.
Chan, who had been out of job since the incident, had a second charge of having a laptop containing 17 obscene films considered during his sentencing.
He could have been jailed for up to one year or fined or both for intruding into the privacy of the woman.
