ARTS lovers here can look forward to exhibitions delivered straight from the heart of Europe - Paris.

Coming to Singapore in March: a haute-couture exhibition featuring the works of fashion designer Christian Lacroix. In the pipeline are exhibitions showcasing the works of Impressionist masters from the Musee d'Orsay and cutting-edge contemporary art from the Centre Pompidou.

In turn, Parisians will be able to catch a Peranakan exhibition from Singapore at Paris' Musee du Quai Branly in early 2011. These come as a result of a cultural agreement signed in Paris on Tuesday between Singapore's Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the French Republic, Bernard Kouchner.

The milestone event marks the commitment and determination of both countries to intensify two-way cultural cofic and technical cooperation.

The new agreement, said the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts in a statement, will help position Singapore as a Global Arts City by providing more international exposure for museums and artists here.

In tandem with the agreement, the National Heritage Board and France's Reunion des Musees Nationaux (RMN), which oversees such museums as the Louvre and Chateau de Versailles, also inked a Memorandum Of Understanding aimed at facilitating and organising French exhibitions in Singapore, and Singapore exhibitions in France.
