WANTED: Singaporean parents who think they know a thing or two about raising teenagers.
Australia's leading television network, Seven Network, is looking for a pair of Singaporean parents to star in an upcoming reality series, tentatively titled Raising Teens.
Modelled after BBC's reality show The World's Strictest Parents, Raising Teens will document two Australian teenagers staying for about one week with different families around the world, each with its own parenting style and household rules.
The teenagers will learn to assimilate into the culture of the country and also into the family's daily life.
Singapore is the only Asian country that will be featured in the series, which is slated for broadcast in Australia later this year.
'We are very interested in families that value education and discipline around education,' says Ms Nicole Smith, 37, casting manager for Asia.
Seven Network executive producer Sonya Wilkes, 35, speaking over the telephone from Sydney, says: 'We really think that a lot of Singaporean parents have something to offer us, by showcasing to Australia the kind of parenting that's common in Singapore. They could talk about life in Singapore, their attitudes of parenting and why Singapore has had so much success over there.'
The Singaporean parents should have their own teenage children, aged between 14 and 18. The chosen family will be paid a fee. Food and transport expenses will also be covered.
The Sydney-based network is the leading free- to-air television broadcaster in Australia, reaching about 22 million viewers.
Families from the United States, the United Kingdom and South Africa will also be featured in the programme. The series will comprise six to eight episodes, each one hour long.
Casting for the Singaporean family began late last year.
