SEVERAL roads around the vicinity of the Padang will be closed for the Chingay Parade and its related events between Jan 29 and 31.
On Jan 29 two out of four lanes from City Hall to Raffles Avenue - away from Connaught Drive towards beach road - will be closed from 10pm to 2am for the Chingay parade rehearsal.
On Jan 30, roads from City Hall to Raffles Avenue - including Republic Boulebard, Temasek Ave, Raffles Ave, St Andrew's Road, Fullerton Road, Connaught Drive, Raffles Link, Coleman Street and Parliament Place - will be completely shut from 5.30pm to 1pm for the parade.
Stamfor Road will also be closed from 6.30pm to 11pm.
On Jan 31, similar roads will be closed from 5.30pm to 5am for the parade and City Alive!, a street dance held in conjunction with the Chingay parade.
Motorists are advised to avoid the affected area, including all peripheral roads leading to the area.
Vehicles found parking and causing obstruction will be towed away, said police.
Ticket holders to the parade are also advised to avoid bringing bags to speed up security checks.
