73 nabbed in CNB raids
By Sujin Thomas
AN ISLAND-WIDE operation carried out by the Central Narcotics Bureau on Tuesday nabbed 14 suspected drug traffickers and 59 suspected drug abusers.

Of the 59 suspected drug abusers, 50 tested positive for controlled drugs, said CNB.

About 40g of heroin, 21g of ketamine, 4g of 'Ice' and 300 'Erimin-5' tablets valued at more than $12,000 were also seized in the 24-hour operation.

In one of the round-ups, CNB officers arrested a 54-year-old suspected drug abuser when they raided a 12th-floor unit at Block 117 Bukit Merah View. <>However, before they entered the flat, another suspected abuser was spotting trying to escape from the flat by climbing out of the kitchen window.

He managed to climb up to the 14th storey where he entered another flat through an open kitchen window.

Once inside, he slammed the main door of the flat shut when CNB officers arrived outside. He then climbed back out from the kitchen window to the rooftop of the block.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force were called in and the suspect, a 40-year-old man, was later found hiding in a flat on the fourth floor. He was then arrested.
