THE first batch of 32 graduates from Nanyang Polytechnic's Specialist Diploma in Clinical Trials Management graduated on Tuesday, after a 40-week part-time course.

The advanced diploma programme offers training in the drug development process, good clinical practices and research methodologies.

Some of the graduates are moving on to work as clinical research coordinators or associates in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, clinical trials firms and clinical research organisations.

Course applicants need to be degree graduates in life sciences, pharmacy, nursing or the equivalent. Polytechnic Diploma holders in nursing or biotechnology would also be considered.

The polytechnic aims to train 230 students in this field over the next five years, to cater to the burgeoning biomedical and pharmaceutical industry here.
