A MAN who exposed himself and masturbated inside a lift to insult the modesty of a woman was jailed for four weeks on Friday.
Dji Hwa Nam, 43, an Indonesian, admitted to the offence at a block of flats in Geylang Bahru on Nov 13 last year.
A court heard that he had entered the lift together with a 24-year old Filipino maid that morning.
He stood behind the victim who was standing closer to the lift door when he unzipped his trousers and committed the offence.
The victim saw what he did through the mirrors at the corners of the lift and became frightened. She took a step forward to move closer to the lift and Dji followed suit.
When the victim got out of the lift on the 21st floor, she turned around to confirm what he was doing. He continued doing what he did and smiled at her.
She reported the incident to her employer's brother, who called the police.
Dji could have been jailed for up to one year or fined or both for insulting the modesty of a woman.
