MOTORISTS are getting an extra gift this Christmas - not from Santa, but the petrol companies.
Pump prices slid again on Wednesday, with Shell leading the way at 2pm, lowering prices by about four cents per litre for its diesel and three unleaded petrol products.
Singapore Petroleum Company and Caltex followed suit at 3pm.
SPC brought its diesel, 95-octane and 98-octane products down four cents, while its 92-octane gasoline came down by three cents.
Caltex brought prices for its three products down by four cents.
These lowered prices were in keeping with market conditions, spokesmen for the companies said.
Crude oil prices fell steeply from July's high of US$147 (S$213) per barrel to a new 41/2 year low of US$33.44 per barrel late last week.
By 3pm on Wednesday, Exxon Mobil had not yet lowered its prices, though they were likely to come down the same day, staff said.
