A THOUSAND and five hundred needy kids in the North West District will get 36,000 packets of milk over the next six months, in a project launched on Thursday by NTUC Fairprice and the North West ComCare Local Network.

This means four free one-litre packets of milk every month for each child.

The 'I Love Milk' project aims to supplement the nutritional needs of the children, who are also beneficiaries of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

Even if money is given instead, not all parents know what to choose for their children, said Minister of State for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, who was guest-of-honour at the launch.

The 'I Love Milk' project in the North West District complements other schemes available to help needy families tide over the difficult times, she added.

Members of the public who wish to find out about the various assistance schemes available may call the ComCare hotline at 1800-222-000.
