MHA holds recruitment fair

AMID the doom and gloom of the economic recession, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is looking for more people to join the Home Team as uniformed officers.

The ministry will be holding a major recruitmentfair this weekend to help fill over 1,000 vacancies within six Home Team departments.

The bulk of vacancies belong to the police force, with 470 available positions for police officers.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority is also looking for 300 specialists and 30 senior officers.

Then there are jobs available for 100 senior Home Team uniformed officers, 70 prisons officers; 60 narcotics officers and 20 firefighters.

Starting salaries for those who are interested in a senior position range from about $2,500 to $3,900. Starting pay for junior officers range from $1,300 to almost $2,500.

In addition to that, bonuses have also been thrown in to attract and retain officers.

Junior officers are entitled to a retention bonus package of up to $30,000, if they clock up to at least eight years of service.

Senior officers get to enjoy a bonus of $2,800 to $4,500 when they get confirmed after 1 year's service.

The fair will be held outside the South Court of Vivo City from 10am on 7pm this Saturday and Sunday.

On site interviews will also be to assessed suitablity.
