DRIVING up to Malaysia on the weekend? Expect heavy traffic jams at the Causeway, warned the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority on Wednesday.
Traffic buildup is expected from Friday evening, and also on return journeys between Sunday and Monday.
To avoid being caught in the congestion, commuters are advised not to travel during the peak periods, and to car pool or use public transport where possible.
Singaporean travellers with valid passports and registered with the National Registration Office are advised to use the eIACS (Enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System) lanes at the Bus Halls for immigration clearance. This allows the use of automated lanes for users to clear immigration within 12 seconds at no extra cost.
Enhanced security checks will be in place at all checkpoints, said ICA.
