HE HAD been arrested for deserting the Singapore Civil Defence Force in a routine anti-crime police operation in Boat Quay early on Sunday.
But while being escorted to a police vehicle in handcuffs, Mohamad Hansor Abdullah allegedly made a run for it, escaping in a taxi at The Central shopping mall.
On Monday, the 24-year-old was charged in a district court with escaping from police custody.
He was caught 14 hours later in Hougang Avenue 2 at about 5pm, following police operations, a police spokesman said.
He was not offered any bail and is being remanded at the Queenstown Remand Prison.
If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years' jail and a fine. He will appear in court again on Dec 15.
