Car traders' support praised
By Maria Almenoar

THE Singapore Vehicle Traders Association celebrated its 35th anniversary on Wednesday evening with dinner at the Meritus Mandarin.

Guest of honour Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Transport) Teo Ser Luck, in his speech, praised the Association for 'making significant and meaningful contributions over the years.'

The Association, he said, has always been responsive when Government ministries or departments needed feedback.

Among the feedback that it has given is that of granting the Preferential Additional Registration Fee (PARF) rebates to imported used cars.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) listened to the feedback and eventually implemented the suggestion.

This move, he said, has led to more business opportunities in the used vehicle trade.

Mr Teo also commended the SVTA for initiating the Casetrust-SVTA Accreditation Scheme which enhances the credibility of its members.

With the scheme, consumers are assured that they are dealing with reliable and trustworthy vehicle traders.

He urged the association to 'continue to strengthen its role and support for members' as well as strengthen its partnership with LTA.
