A BRITAIN-BASED education provider, Cognita, will set up a new international school here next year starting with 600 students.
The Stamford American International School will be a foreign system school offering a US-based curriculum. It will be located at the former Upper Serangoon Secondary school site.
It will open its doors in September 2009 and eventually expand to 2,500 students. The school was the only one offered a site under the Economic Development Board's exercise to award land sites for international schools. There were four sites available.
Cognita also acquired the Australian International School in Lorong Chuan last year and has plans to expand in the region.
