S'porean arrested in drug bust

JOHOR narcotics police have scored a major success, seizing drugs with an estimated street value of RM1 million (S$425,000) and arresting a 55-year-old Singaporean.

A team from the state Narcotics Department raided his double-storey terrace house in Taman Megah Ria at 7.30pm last Wednesday.

He is believed to have rented the house three months ago.

State deputy police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Hisan Tun Hamzah said 4,463 grammes of heroin, 344g of syabu, 789g of ketamine, 2,000 Eramin 5 pills and S$11,290 were seized, according to Malaysian media reports.

Some of the drugs were packed in plastic bags ready for sale, while some were stuffed into condoms to be smuggled out of the country.

Police also found an automatic Sportsarm Miami FL pistol and 56 rounds of bullets.

Mr Hisan said police have yet to ascertain whether the man is the mastermind or just a member of a drug ring. He has tested positive for drugs.

He said the man is wanted in Singapore, but declined to reveal more details, saying the case is a 'protected investigation'.
