WITH more Singaporeans tightening their belt because of the down turn, someone will still need to look out for the less fortunate.

Social entrepreneur advocates say there are still opportunities to set up enterprises that help the under privileged keep themselves afloat and independent especially in these bad times.

Such social innovators from Singapore and around the world will be gathering on the 28th to 30th November to share social innovation ideas.

Called the Global Social Innovators Forum (GSIF 2008), it is organised by the Social Innovation Park.

The advocators of social entrepreneurship had been holding such forums for local social entrepreneurs in Singapore for the last couple of years.

They aim to develop a strong community of changemakers and decision makers from the private, public and people sectors.

Among the line-up of speakers is actor Jet Li who is the Founder of One Foundation and other reknown speakers in the field of social innovation.

Topics like 'The Silver Lining: Turning Obstacles into Opportunities' will be addressed in workshops at the forum.

Singapore's leading social entrepreneur of the year will also be honoured with an award.

Those interested in participating can log on to www.socialinnovatorsforum.org
