CHIEF Justice Chan Sek Keong and Ambassador-at-Large Tommy Koh, were among the 26 individuals who received awards for their contributions to the Pedra Branca case at the Investiture of the National Day Awards ceremony on Monday night.
They were awarded the The Order of Temasek (Second Class) and The Order of Nila Utama (First Class) respectively, the highest accolades given yesterday.
With more than four decades of experience in legal work and a deep knowledge of Malayan history, CJ Chan was recognised for his 'outstanding leadership in the Pedra Branca case'.
The case ended with a ruling awarding Pedra Branca to Singapore and the Middle Rocks to Malaysia earlier in May, closing the 28-year territorial dispute.
Five organisations also received the President's Certificate of Commendation for the work done during the Pedra Branca issue.
More than 400 recepients received their awards from President S.R. Nathan at the Suntec City Ballroom on Monday.
