A 45-YEAR-OLD man was charged in hospital on Wednesday with attempted robbery at the United Overseas Bank branch in City Plaza on Monday.
Ismail Shaikh Ahmad is alleged to have placed two threatening notes at the counter manned by teller Ow Soon Hock, 46, and demanded that he hand over money at about 3.35pm that day.
The tudung-clad man was then wearing a coat and gloves with lipstick on.
A security officer from Certis Cisco hit him on the arm and wrestled him to the ground. Five bank staff helped pin him down until the police arrived.
If convicted of attempted robbery, Ismail can be jailed between two and seven years plus at least six strokes of the cane.
