MOTORCYCLISTS will have double the number of rain shelters to take cover by the end of next year.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is building 31 new motorcycle rain shelters, bringing the total number to 60.
These shelters, costing a total of $2.58 million, will be under flyovers which are along expressways.
At any one time, these 60 shelters can accommodate 1,000 motorcycles.
The LTA said in a statement on Wednesday that rain shelters is one way to improve motorcycle safety on the roads.
New rain shelters will be located along five expressways - Ayer Rajah Expressway, Bukit Timah Expressway, Pan Island Expressway, Seletar Expressway, and Tampines Expressway.
Signs will also be posted before each shelter to alert motorcyclists to the shelter location.
