A $1 MILLION solar technology centre has opened at Ngee Ann Polytechnic to study what kinds of solar panels would work best in the tropics.
The centre, which opens on Wednesday, is part of the Economic Development Board's $17-million programme to promote research and testing of clean energy applications.
There are 90 solar panels installed on the roofs and in various parts of the centre at Ngee Ann Poly in Clementi Road.
The centre will also serve as a training facility for poly students doing a new course in clean energy management. This full-time diploma course is among the six most popular that the polytechnic is offering from next year.
The other five are in advertising and public relations, child psychology and early education, Chinese media and communication, international business and optometry.
