CPIB officer charged

A CORRUPT Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) officer was charged in a magistrate's court on Wednesday with hurting a China woman.

Neo Siong Leng, 31, is alleged to have kicked the table towards Madam Lin Yanmei's knee and causing her pain on Jan 14.

Later that evening, he allegedly threw a file at her face and caused injuries to her lips and tooth.

Court documents say that the alleged offences took place in an interview room at the CPIB at Lengkok Bahru.

Neo, who is represented by Mr Aaron Lee, was offered bail of $5,000.

His next court date is on Dec 9.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $1,000 on each charge.
