Ignorance about condoms
I in 2 Singaporeans not aware it can prevent Aids.
By April Chong
ONE in two Singaporeans does not know that using a condom during sex can prevent the transmission of Aids, according to a survey conducted by the Health Promotion Board last year.

Only one in five of those at-risk - men who have sex with men and those with multiple sexual partners or engage in casual sex - uses condoms consistently during sexual activity.

The survey also found that only one in five respondents was accepting towards people with HIV when it comes to sharing a meal or buying food from an infected hawker.

The board will be rolling out a slew of education strategies to combat the misconceptions and prevent HIV transmission.

One of the programmes is an outdoor life concert held at Fort Canning Park on November 29 in tandem with World AIDS Day.
