SINGAPORE Airlines carried 1.514 million passengers in Sept - down by 1.6 per cent fall from a year earlier.
Accross its network, the airline filled an average of 76.9 per cent of seats.
This was 4.1 per cent down compared to last Sept when load factors hit 81 per cent.
SIA said in a statement on Wednesday that the fall in load factors was due to 'new capacity introduced not being met by the increase in passenger traffic.'
Apart from a softening in demand because of the weak global economy, business in the region was also affected by the political unrest in Thailand and the stringent visa restrictions for travel to China imposed for the Beijing Olympic Games.
These have since been lifted.
System-wide, cargo volumes also fell 3.1 per cent.
