HE TERMED the phrase that became the mantra for global economics in recent years, but now New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman wants to apologise to readers for that famous 'the world is flat' line.
The line was of course the title of his best-selling book of 2005 and captured the essence of globalisation - but the tumultuous events of recent weeks have forced an authorial re-think.
'I've been thinking of writing an apology column to my readers for writing The World Is Flat,' Mr Friedman told The Straits Times on Monday. 'The apology would say: 'It's so much flatter than I thought'.'
