F1 comes to Singapore

THE recent global uncertainty might have cast storm clouds over Singapore's tourism industry.

But hosting mega events like the upcoming Formula One race will give the country an edge in the global tourism business and brighten up its image into a vibrant, hip place to visit, according to Senior Minister of State (Trade and Industry) S. Iswaran.

For not only will the 40,000-odd visitors flying in for the race give the slumping economy a much-needed shot in the arm, extensive media coverage of the world's first night grand prix will vault Singapore into the league of top global cities.
