ON THE outside, architect Gwen Tan's condominium apartment in Punggol looks no different from her neighbours'.
But visitors usually go 'wow' when they step into the 1,550 sq ft home. For a start, it is hard to miss the many plants she has, including a frangipani tree, pitcher plants and several ferns, in the balcony.
The greenery spills into the living room, which catches some sun in the morning.
More plants are found in the master toilet, placed around the sink and at the bay window. To complete the garden theme, on the dining room wall is a mural of leaves.
Ms Tan, 33, a director at local architectural firm Formwerkz, says she has always loved growing plants. She lives with her husband, Mr Berlin Lee, 35, who is also a Formwerkz director. They have no children.
The 10-year-old firm won an award at this year's Singapore Institute of Architects Architectural Design Awards for a house at Opera Estate. It also recently completed the design of Klee, a bar in Wessex Village in Portsdown Road.
When the couple is away, Ms Tan hands friends and family members who have been tasked to care for her plants, a thick plant manual that she compiled.
