FANS of Singapore music, rejoice.
Finally, a radio station dedicated wholly to local music, Redistar, playing home-grown talents 24 hours a day.
The station is operated by subscription-based broadcaster Rediffusion.
Listeners pay a current promotional price of $10, or $13 a month after October, monthly for a receiver set that will allow them to listen to Redistar and 18 other stations available through Rediffusion.
Studio director Gilbert Ong, 33, says that Singapore has an abundance of musical talents who do not get enough exposure on the airwaves.
'There is no such medium out there that plays local music 24 hours a day. And being a responsible broadcaster, Rediffusion has to do something to help promote lesser-known and budding talents that Singapore has,' he says.
