THREE major supermarket chains here have lowered their prices on house-brand rice since July and experts say months of record-high antes could be fading into the past.
Cold Storage, Sheng Siong and Giant Hypermarket have cut prices between 6 and 23 per cent as costs on the world markets continue to retreat from record levels posted in May.
'The crisis of record highs is likely to be over, ' said Mr Goh Chong Theng, general manager of Rabobank International, which finances agricultural ventures.
