PRESIDENT S R Nathan showed off his Chinese calligraphy skills - by penning the word 'Dao' - at the opening ceremony of the 'Multi-Language Editions of the Dao De Jing' exhibition held in Suntec City on Thursday.

The exhibition, the largest ever of its kind here with more than 300 books in 36 languages, features the 2500-year-old work of the Taoist sage Lao Zi.

In a bid to promote inter-faith harmony, there is also a section displaying the sacred scriptures of the 10 major religions here.

The exhibition, organised by the Hong Kong Taoist organisation Fung Ying Seen Koon and Singapore's Taoist Federation, will run until next Tuesday at the Suntec concourse level three.
