Aged 30 to 59: Three-quarters were in this age bracket.

Six in 10 single:

64 per cent were single

22 per cent were married

13 per cent were divorced or separated.

Half from heterosexual sex:

50 per cent caught the virus through man-woman sex

32 per cent through homosexual sex

5 per cent through bisexual sex

8 per cent through intravenous drug use

The mode of transmission for the remaining 5 per cent is unknown.

Most find out incidentally:

58 per cent were diagnosed through HIV tests done during medical treatment

20 per cent found out when they were screened in prisons and drug rehabilitation centres

5 per cent through contact tracing and other types of screening

The remaining 17 per cent were diagnosed through voluntary screening.
